Important Information/ Informacion Importante

Hello Chaparral Families,
The Gadsden Independent School District will be loaning a Chromebook for distance learning only to each GISD household that does not already have a device for distance learning available in their household. Only one Chromebook will be loaned to each household that needs a device.

The Chaparral community households that need a device will receive a Chromebook on Tuesday, April 7th at Chaparral High School in the following order:

• Students attending Chaparral High and
Chaparral Middle from 8:00 am to 11:00 am
• Students attending Yucca, Sunrise, Desert Trail,
and Chaparral Elementary schools from 1:00 –
4:00 pm

The parent/guardian listed in PowerSchool must be present to receive the Chromebook and sign a user agreement form for the household, and will be responsible for the return of the loaned Chromebook at a later date. Parent/Guardian should bring with them: their students names, school ID numbers, a list of schools that they attend, and a pen to sign the documents.

In the event that we run short of devices, GISD will have a second distribution to ensure that the students are able to participate in the on-line learning process

El Distrito Escolar Independiente de Gadsden prestará un Chromebook para el aprendizaje a distancia solo a cada hogar de GISD que aún no tenga un dispositivo para el aprendizaje a distancia disponible en su hogar. Solo se prestará un Chromebook a cada hogar que necesite un dispositivo. Los hogares de la comunidad de Chaparral que necesitan un dispositivo recibirán un Chromebook el martes 7 de abril en Chaparral High School en el siguiente orden:

• Estudiantes que asisten a Chaparral High y
Chaparral Middle de 8:00 a.m. a 11:00 a.m.
• Estudiantes que asisten a las escuelas primarias
Yucca, Sunrise, Desert Trail y Chaparral de 1:00 a
4:00 p.m.

El padre / tutor que figura en PowerSchool debe estar presente para recibir el Chromebook y firmar un formulario de acuerdo de usuario para el hogar, y será responsable de la devolución del Chromebook prestado en una fecha posterior. El padre / tutor debe traer con ellos: los nombres de sus alumnos, los números de identificación de la escuela, una lista de las escuelas a las que asisten y un bolígrafo para firmar los documentos.

En caso de que se nos agoten los dispositivos, GISD tendrá una segunda distribución para garantizar que los estudiantes puedan participar en el proceso de aprendizaje en línea.

Principal’s Corner

 

Dear Yucca Heights Family,

 

I hope this finds you doing safe and well. These past couple of weeks we have made major changes to the traditional learning system.  We have found ways to facilitate the child's learning experience from home through the Google Classroom online platform.

We are recommending to reach out to your child's teacher if they have not yet reached out to you. To obtain their GISD email and password, as well as, to discuss any questions or concerns you may have during this time.  One excellent way to reach your child’s teacher is through ClassDojo.

 

We will be using the Google Classroom online platform for our remote learning.Your child’s teacher will be communicating valuable information through this platform.

 

Students are expected to communicate daily with their teacher. Complete assignments on a daily basis, be prepared to learn, be organized, ask for help when you need it.

 

Our Teachers have been in contact with parents/guardians to complete a survey, in regards to, the technology and resources you have available at home. This survey is very important as it will help the district determine what each family will need to have a successful remote learning experience.

New Mexico public education will shift to a learn-at-home model as schools remain closed for the rest of the academic school year.

 

Remote Learning- We launched an ambitious remote learning initiative in response to school closures. It is important that you are in contact with your child’s teacher to receive important information.

ClassDojo- Parents/Guardians YHE has been using ClassDojo to keep you informed. If you have not joined please download the app, and join our school ClassDojo.

Google classroom- Lessons will be provided through Google Classroom, teachers will be providing access to students to their Google Classroom.Please be sure to get your child’s GISD email and password from your child’s teacher.

Querida familia de Yucca Heights:

 

Espero que esto lo encuentre bien y seguro. Estas dos últimas semanas hemos realizado cambios importantes en el sistema de aprendizaje tradicional. Hemos encontrado formas de facilitar la experiencia de aprendizaje del niño desde casa a través de la plataforma en línea Google Classroom.

Recomendamos comunicarse con el maestro de su hijo si aún no se han comunicado con usted. Para obtener su correo electrónico y contraseña de GISD, así como para discutir cualquier pregunta o inquietud que pueda tener durante este tiempo. Una excelente manera de comunicarse con el maestro de su hijo es a través de ClassDojo.

 

Utilizaremos la plataforma en línea Google Classroom para nuestro aprendizaje remoto. El maestro de su hijo comunicará información valiosa a través de esta plataforma.

 

Se espera que los estudiantes se comuniquen diariamente con su maestro. Complete tareas diariamente, prepárese para aprender, sea organizado, solicite ayuda cuando la necesite.

Nuestros maestros se han puesto en contacto con los padres / tutores para completar una encuesta sobre la tecnología y los recursos que tiene disponibles en el hogar. Esta encuesta es muy importante ya que ayudará al distrito a determinar qué necesitará cada familia para tener una experiencia exitosa de aprendizaje remoto.

Important Information

Volunteer Sign Up Process

Step 1: Fill out the GISD Volunteer Pack

Step 2: Take the Volunteer Pack to the GISD Central Office and turn pack in to Mayela Reyes (575-882-6226) in the Human Resources Department. Remember to take two forms of identification (Driver's License, Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, or Passport) any two.

Step 3: Register online for fingerprinting through Mayela Reyes at the GISD Central Office ($44.00 Fee)

Step 4: Get fingerprinting done at either the Sunland Park or Las Cruces Office
